I was thrilled to watch the inauguration yesterday and to know President Barack Hussein Obama now sits at this powerful desk. May he be an effective leader – inspiring the nation to work together and exercising more peaceful diplomacy in the world.

This morning, I read an amazing story about Tim DeChristopher, a 27-year-old environmentalist and activist, who out bid the country's second biggest independent oil producers to "protect it for all Americans." Land is being auctioned off as part of a last ditch effort by the Bush administration to open up wild lands to oil companies. Thanks to his daring move, more press has been dedicated to this issue. Through overwhelming public support, he raised enough money to pay for the first lease payment and is hoping to raise enough to get him to inauguration day.
