Okay, so I have this love of multi-use textiles. I'm overjoyed with pieces so beautiful and flexible, they can be worn as well as used in the home as a splash of color on a chair or as a table cloth. This is a perfect example. Can't you just see this piece on a utilitarian table too? Love it!

IDOM : fall/holiday 08

This is a very rare capture of Modi Soondarotok, New York Designer, owner of Idom, now Portlander. It was captured when we shot her fall line. I think I owe her lots of expensive drinks for posting it. You can read more about this incredible world traveling designer and see more of her work on her blog.

HI FIVE!

I saw these on Cup of Joe this morning and was smitten in a mitten sort of way. The design is by Kate Spade and are handcrafted by women in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Buy a pair and "directly support a woman as she rebuilds her life, family, and community."

I just popped in to see my friend Modi, designer of the IDOM label today. Sadly, I missed seeing her spring '09 collection at the Portland Fashion week show on Sunday. She showed me pictures though and I loved the collection! I'm sure you will too!

vacation shopping

I don't think I've let you all in on how much I love vintage and thrift stores have I? Well, on my vacation I hit some good ones. In Walden, Colorado my friend and I found Hoopla on the main street and I made sure to stop in a few of my favorites, Artifacts and White Rabbit in Iowa City, Iowa. Evidently both were featured in Lucky magazine last year.

I forgot my camera for most of my trip but did remember it when I was in White Rabbit. If you are ever in Iowa City, pop in and don't forget my friend's shop Artifacts. I always find the best vintage purses in that town!

IDOM's 2008 Ocean Life

Beautiful Fall 08 Ocean Life Collection by Idom will be in available in October. Oh, how I LOVE these pieces. I actually got a sneak peak before the designer, Modi, left for Thailand and I was full of oooh's and ahhhh's. You can read more on her blog.

I'm flying to Colorado today. I'm taking almost 2 1/2 weeks off to spend with dear friends and family. Next week, I will travel to Iowa City, Iowa my home town. I'm very excited to be there in the fall. It's my favorite season in the Midwest. I will post my little daily pieces of art as I can, so please check back! *a
